Buck McCain b.1943
In the early 1800s, the time of lewis and Clark, and estimater 60 to 80 million American Bison (commonly called "buffalo") roamed the West. By 1890 the great herds were reduced to a few hundred animals, mostly in Canada. Thanks to preservation efforts and a commercial buffalo meat market, over a quarter-million of these majestic creatures now flourish and roam freely in places such as Yellowstone National Park. Be cautious when observing these animals in the wild - they can be dangerous.
