Crossing The Prairie

This was taken at Leaning Tree in Gunbarrel, there was a plaquethat said:

It was the year 1843, and two thousand miles to the West Coast by way of the Oregon Trail. The promise of free land, gold, and opportunity beckoned both the bold and the benifit. Plodding along, day after day, beside the wagons and pack animals, most walked all the way. Facing starvation and hardships beyond imagination, carrying infants and meager possessions, many never completed the journey.
