12mm Hex

These are some parts for our robot. We needed a way to connect the four wheels to the four motors, and this was the best solution. The hard part, was that 12mm hex stock was needed to complete the job. The only place that sold hex stock was online for $50, at a minimum of 6 feet. I didn't need that much. The simple solution, use some round stock (on the right side of image), and mill it down to hex stock. The process took about a half hour to mill all four of the pieces down to the correct 12mm hex size, and cost me $3.06.
In the process, I learned something really cool. I learned how to easily make hex stock. I was under the assumption that you would have to use a dividing head, a device that can rotate some round stock an exact amount of degrees. This method would require at least 45 minutes of prep time, and a lot of math. The easier solution, use a hex collet. Basically you stick the round stock in a sleeve shaped like hex, and you rotate it and make cutting passes on it until
