Poudre FLL 2013
This weekend was the 2013 Poudre Qualifier for the FIRST Lego League competition. Just like in the years past, I volunteered as a photographer. It took me a little while to get through these photos, but I ended up with a lot of good ones that I'm happy with.

Natures Fury
This years challenge was named "Natures Fury". It was all about natural disasters and how you can help. It was the first year that I didn't really look at the challenge to see what they had to do, but every year the students have 10-15 tasks that their robot has to complete in a few minutes all completely autonomous, e.g. without a remote control.
Showing off the Code
These students had to program. They are only in middle school (some of them even in elementary). It's very impressive what they do. Even though the programming is simple (it's block programming), the knowledge required to program is impressive at this age.
Technical Presentations
This challenge isn't just about programming and Lego's, the students have to give presentations on what they can do to make natural disasters better. Most of the students commented about wild fires and flooding (which makes sense because those two happen in Colorado frequently).
Teamwork
Another part of the challenge is proving that you have good teamwork. Each team split themselves up (some on one side, and some on the other side). One side had to make something out of Lego's, and the other side had to make the same thing, all with just communication.
