Universal Studios (Spring Break Day 3)
On the second full day in California, Katherine and I drove to Universal Studios. It was convenient because they opened an hour later than Disneyland, and it was an hour drive to Universal. We got to Universal when it opened and I took some photos of the entrance.

New Ride
We rode the new transformers ride first thing when we got there. The lines in Universal did not even compare to those at Disneyland. We waited in line at Universal less than 15 minutes for any ride we wanted to go on. This ride was pretty awesome. We had to wear 3D glasses, but the 3D was pretty amazing.
The Mummy
We rode the mummy ride twice. It was a pretty fun ride because you went backwards.
Awesome Suit
These guys were pretty awesome. They had several of these people in costumes that you could take your picture with.
Tram Ride
We rode the tram ride twice because the first time we were on the wrong side. We first sat on the right and all the cool stuff was on the left.
Old Bridge
The Flood
They do a flood for the tour that is pretty cool. This was one of the things that was on the left side of the tram.
Jaws
Katherine said that the last time she went on this tour they drove through where Jaws was filmed. I guess Jaws is just too old of a movie...
Whoville
Norman Bates
They did a little scene at the Bates motel where Norman would come out with a dead body and put it in the trunk. Then he would go follow the tram with a knife. It was pretty funny.

Picture Cars
A picture car is a car that is used in a movie. There can be several of these cars for either looking nice, getting trashed, or as back ups. The next photos show the picture cars.

This was a pretty cool area. It was too dark to take photos though... The simulated an earthquake. We were in a subway station when the earthquake started. The road above us collapsed and if not for a pillar, this gas tanker would have plowed right through the tram!
War of the Worlds
They took us through the set for War of the Worlds. It's a pretty old movie, but a way cool set. This was an actual plane that they shipped to Hollywood on trucks.

Everything at Universal was focused on Despicable Me, probably since that's the movie that is most recent and well known.

This was closed while we were there. Too bad too, because I actually vaguely remembered this when I was here a long time ago.

Another 3D Ride
This ride was 3D, just like Transformers (although not as cool as Transformers). Still a pretty good ride though.
Outside Universal
Outside Universal there was a very similar thing as Downtown Disney. There were a bunch of little shops.

Drinks on Spring Break
We were recommended to go down to this bar in the Disney Hotel and have a drink. This place was pretty cool. Every 15 minutes the would simulate an earthquake. The walls would shake, and the pictures on the walls of volcano would glow red like they were erupting. The bartenders would sound sirens and ring bells, and spray the bar area with squirt bottles. My drink, on the left, is a tiki tiki tiki tiki tiki rum. Katherine's drink (n the right) is a Parana pool.
