Galena
Katherine and I went down to Galena, Illinois. It's about a 30 minute drive from Dubuque and definitely worth the drive. It's a pretty old town, but main street has some really cool shops with a lot of shopping and fun. The date on this trolley was the wrong time, if that were correct, it would either be dark, or we would have been asleep!
Wrong Time

This is the Dowling House, the oldest house still standing in Galena. It was the home and trading post of pioneer merchant John Dowling.
Long Way Down
Luckily we never had to go up these stairs. We drove up to this point to try and find a good view of the city. There were too many trees though, and I never found a good place to shoot. Maybe we can come back up here in the summer and find a better spot.
1913 Krupp Howitzer
We went to Grant Park, located just on the other side of the Galena river. This was President Ulysses S. Grant's home town. Katherine and I went to the welcome center in this town and saw that they had 7 generals in the civil war from Galena. This was surprising since the town is very small.
