National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium
Katherine and I went to the National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium over the weekend. They were doing "ice fest", where they had some snow sculpting, and did a few activities. Overall, it was a pretty good museum, a lot larger than I expected.
This was one of the displays in the museum, but we weren't sure what it was for. But it was fun to stand in and take some photos.
Fun Weekend at the Museum

Get out of There!
Katherine decided to hop the rail and jump in the canoe. Almost got us kicked out of the museum. Just kidding. This was PhotoShopped. I took a picture of Katherine squatting next the the canoe and then she moved out of the way and I took another one. Then I just put the railing back in.
Next To the Dolphins
May Flies
These are May Flies. If they are coming out of the river, then the river is healthy. Kind of seems disturbing to me.
Little Lost Kitten
This book is dated to 1963. They had a small Christmas display up since it was only the weekend after the new year.
Old Boat Compass
1968
This bell has "Jesse Brent" inscribed on it. It was a bell on a boat somewhere.
Weird Fish
This was in the aquarium portion of the museum. The Aquarium wasn't that big but they had some cool fish in it. Not sure what these fish are.
Sting Ray
Eagle Cage
Outside there was a bald eagle cage. They have 2 bald eagles and when we walked out there, they were fighting a little bit. I guess this one won since he is on the roof of their shelter and the other one was on the round.
Cold River
This was part of Ice Fest. The fire department demoed water rescues in the iced over Mississippi. We were told that in their suits, they get bored before they start to get cold.
Civil War Canon
The museum had 2 buildings. It was also pretty cold outside, so we wanted to get back inside quickly (which is why there aren't too many pictures outside). Luckily, our admission was for all weekend, and Sunday was supposed to be warmer.
Turtle Skeleton
Stuck
They had a lot of turtles. They had an entire exhibit on turtles, but it was closed. This turtle is stuck and trying to get out of where it lodged itself. It eventually got out, but it was pretty funny to watch it get stuck.
