Chicago Weekend TripPosted: January 17, 2015We drove down to Chicago on Friday afternoon and spend the night in a hotel that was just outside of Chicago. That way we could get right to it on Saturday morning. We started off the morning at Millennium Park. Millennium ParkWe drove down to Chicago on Friday afternoon and spend the night in a hotel that was just outside of Chicago. That way we could get right to it on Saturday morning. We started off the morning at Millennium Park. Katherine and the Giant BeanWe started off at the bean, one of Chicago's iconic statues located in Millennium Park. We got there around 9:30 in the morning, and the place was empty. Because the sun was in a bad spot, I wanted to come back to it and take more photos. Little did I know, the afternoon would be pretty busy (see photos ahead). Luckily I got a few good shots. The BeanBP BridgeWe walked across the BP Bridge to get across a street. It was pretty cool and had a unique shape. Cracked Ice on Lake MichiganLake Michigan is right up next to Millennium Park, so we walked over. It was a little iced over along the shore, but because of the warm weather, the ice was breaking up. Buckingham FountainThis is such a huge fountain, we need to come back over the summer while it's running!Over the TracksBroken BowThis guy's bow is broken off. Or maybe it's intentional? That's My Street!Looking DownWe went to the Sky Deck. It was pretty cool. We went in an elevator that went up 103 stories in less than a minute. They told us the speed was 24 feet per second, which sounds fast, but when converted to miles per hour, it's really only moving at 16 miles per hour. From the Sky DeckThe Sky Deck's windows weren't really that great, but there were a few windows that I could shoot out of. It wasn't that clear of a day either. We will come back over the summer when it is more clear out!Katherine and ChicagoProtective LionThis lion is outside the museum.Flat FacedThere were 3 of these statues, they all had pretty flat faces, It might look normal in this photo, but if you look from the front, their faces are super narrow. Busy BeanWe went back the the bean in the afternoon (~2pm), and it was really busy! Good thing I got some photos in the morning!Clock TowerThis is a weird-shaped building. Not sure why it isn't just all one building...Across the River
