Iowa State Fair
Katherine and I made the 3 hour trip to Des Monies to go to the Iowa State Fair. We have been told that it is a huge event and worth driving to. We were there all day, there was so much to see and do. This picture was taken on the ski lift that they have that takes you to the opposite side of the fair grounds.

There were a lot of tractor companies at the fair trying to promote their equipment.

Wet Nose
Of course there were animals at the Iowa State Fair - and there were a lot of them. We walked through so many stables of animals that we could have gotten lost. Unfortunately there wasn't that great of light in most of the animal areas, but I got a few good shots.
Notched Ears
We went around several stalls for me to find a good ear to photograph. All the pigs had notches in their ears, but because of the heat, all the animals were in the far corners where all the fans were and the ones that were close enough for me to get the shot I wanted were showing me the ear that had their animal tag pierced in it. None the less I finally found a good ear to shoot.

This isn't part of the live animals, but they did a pretty good job doing the taxidermy on this bear.

This isn't an exhibit, but just part of the garden outside the agriculture building at the Iowa State Fair.

These were some metal sculptures that were for sale in the business portion of the fair. They even had coconut lights and metal monkeys.
Sand Sculpting
They were even doing some sand sculpting inside one of the buildings.

There was a lot of stuff inside the buildings not related to the fair, like Iowa State University's Cy the Cardinal. Along with a booth for applying to the university. I think Katherine and I are good with our degrees.
Bandaloni One Man band
There were several events and entertainers at the fair, including this guy - the Bandaloni one man band. He was really good and quite popular!
