Denver Science MuseumPosted: June 04, 2017Katherine and I went down to the Denver Science Museum because it was a free admission day. We only had to pay our ticket into the special exhibit, Beyond the Legends, which is all about the Vikings. Male SkullI can't tell the difference, but this person had dental work done on teeth in the upper jaw. Just showing how sophisticated Vikings were. Heavily Worn TeethYou can see the teeth were filed down.Hard LaborThe vertebrae show signs of compression injury and leakage which indicate hard physical labor.SilverThis pendant was pretty small, about the size of your thumb. Bronze BroochThis is a pretty elaborate brooch! I can't imagine wearing this!Old CombThe Vikings made combs out of bones.Iron SwordI was hoping to see a lot of swords in the Viking exhibit. I did see a few, but most of them were in really poor light. I was excited to see this one photograph worthy!SpearheadThe sword in the center is a spearhead. Boat ReplicaSilver CoinsEik SandeThis is a replica of the largest river boat of an 1880 Viking ship that was discovered in Gokstad, Norway. DenverThe view of Denver with the boat house from the museum is beautiful!
